Greece is not represented in the global supermarket for sports cars, but there are people trying to put the country on the map, in a meaningful way. One such man is architect/inventor Dimitris Korres, who is building a unique sports car that is intended for fast driving on surfaces other than tarmac.
Called the Korres Project 4, it uses a naturally-aspirated seven-liter V8 engine straight out of the old Corvette Z06, and since it is lighter than the American car, 62 mph (100 km/h) comes up in under 4 seconds, while top speed is a claimed 186 mph (300 km/h).
Impressive figures, for a vehicle that has adjustable and adaptive suspension inspired by that of the Citroen 2CV (Mr. Korres’ original passion was modifying them in the 1980s), and it can be raised and fitted with different tires (two extra ones on the rear hatch, just in case) and then be driven on Baja-style courses at fairly high speed. It even has all-wheel drive and can rock-crawl quite successfully, as you’ll see in one of the many videos we’ve posted below.
Looks-wise, it’s not bad either, for something not meant to rival sexy Italian sports cars. The design itself is actually good, giving the Project 4 a strong aggressive stance, reminding me a bit of the Local Motors Rally Fighter, or the Italdesign Parcour concept.
