A harder, better, faster version of any sporty car is a welcome addition, but when it’s Godzilla we’re talking about, then the talk suddenly gets a heck of a lot more interesting.

So apparently Top Gear has acquired information which would suggest that a Nismo GT-R is definitely in the works, and that it is being engineered to achieve a time of under 7m 18s on the Nürburgring, making it faster than the all-new Porsche 911 GT3 which manages the feat a claimed four seconds slower.

Carlos Ghosn, the CEO of Nissan, announced that a Nismo version of the Nissan GT-R was coming, adding that it’s going to be a special car. Now, the new information backs that up as we are promised extra power from the twin-turbo V6 engine; a power figure of over 570 hp, versus the stock GT-R’s 545 hp output.

In addition, a visual makeover is also in order, though we don’t know how far that could go – a nice subtle widebody kit and different spoiler would be enough for many, along with some different rims and bigger Nismo-branded brakes…

The car’s complicated suspension system will also be retuned (and probably stiffened) for better on-track performance – hopefully, they don’t overdo it, because it will, after all, be a road car.
