If you’re keeping a close eye on the automotive headlines, you should already know about Porsche’s 50th anniversary edition of the 911 that was released late last night. One piece of information that was missing from the original German release was U.S. pricing, which was announced today.
The 911 Carrera S-based 50th edition with the vintage styling cues like the classic Fuchs wheels and 1960s fabric designs used on the seats will go on sale in the United States this fall at a starting price of $124,100, not including a $950 destination charge (*).
Porsche did not say how many of the 1,963 examples of the limited production model will be offered in the country. If you like day-dreaming, though, perhaps the newly released video of the 911 50 Years Edition will prove interesting.
In related news, Porsche said that its official Museum in Stuttgart is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 911 with what it calls, “one of the most extensive special exhibitions since its opening”.
The “50 Years of 911” anniversary exhibition welcomed the first visitors today and will be open until September 29, 2013. It hosts more than 40 different versions of the 911, ranging from the original model to rare production cars and race cars, as well as numerous prototypes, which will be presented to the general public for the first time ever.
