It seems that today is the day for announcing acceleration times, as shortly after GM’s release on the new 2014 Corvette Stingray, which does 0-60mph (96km/h) in 3.8 seconds, Aston Martin confirmed a similar set of figures for its new 565-hp V12 Vantage S.
According to the Gaydon-based carmaker, the new V12 Vantage S is the brand’s fastest accelerating production car to date after the limited run (and now sold-out) One-77 with a 0-60mph sprint time of 3.7 seconds (0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds). The same applies for its top speed of 205mph (330km/h), with the One-77 being the only production car in Aston’s history to be faster.
Since we mentioned the Corvette’s 0.1 second slower time, we should also note that in the U.S., you could buy close to three-and-a-half Stingrays with the Z51 and Magnetic Ride Suspension options included ($56,590) for the same price as one V12-powered Vantage ($184,995 MSRP).
The same Aston costs £138,000 in the UK, €179,950 in Germany, $230,995 (US$) in Dubai and AU$389,300 for Australians who seem to be given the proverbial shaft when it comes to prices.
We’ll remind you that the Vantage S sports the company’s newer AM28 6.0-litre V12 engine delivering 565bhp (573PS) and 620 Nm (457 lb-ft).
