The 2014 Nissan Versa Note will go on sale this month at dealerships across the U.S., with prices starting from $13,990 (€10,500) for the entry-level model Versa Note S. That is $680 (€510) less than the outgoing Versa Hatch S M/T. the price doesn’t include a destination and handling charge that will set buyers back a further $790 (€595).
The fourth all-new product to appear in Nissan showrooms in recent months following the Altima, Pathfinder and Sentra, the Versa Note is an important model for the Japanese carmaker, as the previous generation – together with the Versa Sedan – held the entry segment sales leadership for 20 consecutive months and 38 of the last 44 months.
The Versa Note (known simply as Note in Europe and other markets), shares the design with the Note and joins the second-generation Versa Sedan in the Nissan lineup, bringing increased utility.
The car is offered in three grade levels: S, S Plus and SV, with available SV Convenience Package, SL Package and SL Tech Package. The only engine offered is a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with dual fuel injection and Twin CVTCS (Continuously Variable Timing Control System). The unit is linked to a five-speed manual transmission in the S entry-level model, while the S Plus and SV come with a next-generation Nissan Xtronic CVT transmission.
When equipped with the CVT, the Versa Note averages 40 mpg (5.9 l/100 km) highway, 31 mpg (7.6 l/100 km) city and 35 mpg (6.7 l/100 km) combined.
The Versa Note S Plus starts from $15,240 (€11,425), while the SV is priced from $15,990 (€12,000).
Among the available technologies is the Around View Monitor, Active Grille Shutter for improved fuel economy, SiriusXM Satellite Radio and NissanConnect with Navigation System.
