The most powerful road-going car in Peugeot’s history, the production version of last year’s Paris Motor Show RCZ R Concept, will make its world premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK on July 12, the automaker announced on Monday.
While we don’t know if the production car will keep the eye-catching matt black and copper paintwork, as Peugeot isn’t quite yet to share images yet, the French carmaker did confirm the specifications for the RCZ R, which are identical to the Paris show study.
The sportiest car in Peugeot’s range will have 260bhp (264PS) at its disposal from a modified version of the PSA Peugeot-Citroen and BMW Group co-developed 1.6-liter THP turbocharged gasoline engine. The inline-four unit is also pegged to deliver CO2 emissions of 155g/km, which isn’t bad for a performance car of this type.
A new Torsen limited slip differential is designed to keep all those horses in check at the front axle, with Peugeot engineers also fiddling with the suspension set-up and fitting the car with bigger wheels and wider tires to improve its handling credentials.
Sales should start before the end of the year or early 2014.
