It was only this week that we learned about Lamborghini’s plans to preview a replacement for the 10 year old (!) and very successful with more than 10,000 examples built to date, Gallardo, at the forthcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in the beginning of September with a concept, reportedly named Carbrera.
Now, we have a set of scoops shots that are said to be of a prototype of that supercar and which were brought to our attention (and hosted) by the Italian site Carpassion.
There’s too much going on in terms of camouflage and fake panels to know what it looks like underneath, but the tester does seem to be of a similar size to the Gallardo.
German magazine AutoMotorunSport said that the next Gallardo will be based on the second generation Audi R8’s lighter platform using a modified version of the current 5.2-liter V10 engine, possibly with around 600 horses, linked to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The report said there’s no word on whether a manual will be offered.
