If you haven’t heard of Sheikh Khalid Al Qassimi, he is a World Rally Championship (WRC) driver from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Active since 2002, Al Qassimi, who as his name suggests, is a Sheikh, entered the WRC in 2004, first driving a Subaru Impreza WRX, before moving on to drive a Ford Focus, then a Fiesta and now, most recently a Citroen DS3 which he recently had a bit of fun with during the Acropolis rally in Greece.
The Greek venue was the set for an impressive barrel roll performed by Al Qassimi, who has so far accumulated 35 points in his entire WRC career. Upon exiting a corner, it appears as if he clipped a raised portion of the inside (apex) which sent the DS3 flying.
It actually does two complete barrel rolls before landing squarely on its wheels, being bent up, but not too severely damaged, especially after being subjected to some serious air-time and a predictably bumpy landing.
Scroll down to see the video, and try to ignore the ‘moo-ing’ which occurs during the slow motion part which shows the flight at a slower speed, allowing the brain to process more information and therefore give you a more fulfilling overall experience.
