Here are some fresh photos of the prototype model that will lead to the production version of the all-new Jaguar F-Type Coupe. Our spy photographers nabbed the car while the British firm’s testers were running some hot laps around the Nürburgring circuit.
Even though Jaguar originally previewed the F-Type with a concept for the coupe in 2011, it was the roadster model that was released to the public first. To get your hands on the closed-top model, you’ll have to wait at least a year as from what we’ve heard, Jaguar plans to reveal the sports coupe no sooner than summer of 2014.
The British brand’s designers have preserved the sweet-looking lines of the study, with plenty of curves and nice details. The fixed roof will likely offer some small benefits in terms of torsional rigidity and weight savings over the roadster version, and possibly improved refinement on the road as well.
You won’t be surprised to learn that the roadster’s engine lineup comprising a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 in 335HP (340PS) and 375HP (380PS) guises, and a 488HP (495PS) supercharged V8, all connected to an eight-speed automatic, will be carried over to the coupe.
A manual gearbox option and the possibility of an entry-level 2.0-liter turbocharged four for certain markets, remain on the table.
