You may remember one of our recent posts in which we covered a new and very promising off-road simulator, called Spintires. I tried out the demo version and liked it because it allowed the user to take a very detailed version of a (Soviet era) Maz off-road truck onto some treacherous terrain, and then come out the other side (most of the times, anyway).

Big trucks, which can also go off-road (and do it well) are very cool, and they are really an impressive sight to behold. Watching one of these monsters pull itself out of the rough stuff, through mud or snow, usually without a winch, will make you forget to blink.

It is for the above reasons that we decided to feature this MotorTrend off-road drive of the Oshkosh Striker 3000, a fire truck designed to be a fully off-road capable vehicle, able to trek rough ground in order to put out the fire caused by a crashed airplane.

Packing a “thousand-horsepower” Cummins diesel engine, six-wheel drive, fully-independent suspension and the capability to achieve extreme approach angles when climbing the steepest of objects, the Striker 3000 is the kind of vehicle you’d want to drive, should the escape scene from the “2012” movie, starring John Cusack were to ever materialize.
