In your opinion, what changes to a regular passenger car like the Fiat 500L minivan justify a “professional” or a commercial moniker? If you ask us, some basic requirements would be base-specification model that would do away with the rear seat bench and gain a net to separate the front passenger from the rear compartment as well as blacked out or covered rear windows. The Fiesta Van is a good example.
The Fiat 500L Pro for professionals has only one of those attributes and it isn’t the large rear compartment, the net or the hidden rear windows… What Fiat Professional (a sub-brand of the Italian carmaker with a self-explanatory name) did is take a base 500L, stick a “Pro” designation on it and call it a day!
Yet, the opening statement of Fiat’s press release would have you believe otherwise:
“Orders are opening today for Fiat 500L Pro, the new model which combines the unmistakable Italian design with the special features of Fiat Professional products – low running costs, outstanding ergonomics, low emissions and fuel consumption, reliability and robustness at the highest levels.”
Somehow, we fail to see how the 500L Pro is better for professionals than any other base model of the same style in the market.
In any case, the 500L Pro is offered with two engines, the 84Hp (85PS) 1.3-liter 16v MultiJet 2II turbo diesel and the 94Hp (95PS) 1.4-liter 16v Fire petrol, with prices in Italy starting at €10,300.
