The addition of a fixed hardtop to the F-Type’s body should only make Jaguar’s compact sports car even better and lighter than the roadster version, but the British company’s engineers still need to calibrate, make the necessary changes and test the car before they release it to the public, something that should happen late next year.
Today, Carscoops reader Timo tipped us off about a video of a camouflaged Jaguar F-Type Coupe releasing its horses on the Nürburgring racetrack.
The quad tail pipes (two on either side) and the lovely, deep exhaust notes leave no doubt that this is the “S” V8 model with the same 488HP (495PS) supercharged eight-cylinder mill paired to an eight-speed automatic, that you can find on the roadster. Other available powerplants will include a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 in 335HP (340PS) and 375HP (380PS) output levels.
We’ve heard rumors about Jaguar mulling the use of the axed C-X75 hypercar’s Cosworth-developed 502HP 1.6-liter turbocharged, four cylinder gasoline unit on a range-topping F-Type Coupe RS model, but we’ll have to wait and see if it comes into fruition.
Thanks to Timo for the video tip!
