Photos of two completely undisguised examples of what is the facelifted 2014 Nissan Sunny sedan have popped up on a Chinese website, leading us to believe that the Japanese company may very well be preparing the same updates for the North American version of the car, which is none other than the Versa sedan.

The affordable Micra-based sedan was unveiled as the Nissan Sunny in China back in December of 2010 before it gradually made its way into other markets around the world including the U.S. in April of 2011 as the Versa, with no visible cosmetic changes between the two.

In China, the refreshed Sunny sports a redesigned front end mimicking the styling of Nissan’s larger Altima sedan with bigger headlamps and grille, as well as a new bumper with added chrome details. The new mirrors that integrate turning signals, the wide chrome decorative strip above the rear license plate holder on the boot , and the different tail lamp fixtures seem to round out the exterior revisions. All changes seem to have been made to provide the Sunny (and possibly the Versa) with a slightly more premium feel.

Reports from China say the updated Sunny will be released this September, by which time, we should now if Nissan will apply the same upgrades to the Versa as well.
