Porsche will soon give birth to yet another member of its expanded 991 family of sports cars, the 2014MY 911 Turbo Convertible that our spies photographed without any kind of camouflage while flaunting its body around the Nurburgring’s curves.
Since Stuttgart has already shaken the covers off the 911 Turbo Coupe, we know 99 percent of the details surrounding the open top version – the remaining percentage has to do with things like the car’s weight due to the removal of the roof and the structural enhancements.
Like the regular 911 Convertibles, the Turbo model will come with a lighter top made from composite materials supported by a new magnesium frame, all in the name of saving weight.
You’ll be able to tell that this beast has much more oomph than the Carrera / S Convertible from the much wider hips (28 mm broader than those of the 911 Carrera 4 models), the vented front and rear bumpers, spoiler kit and the bigger wheels.
If you can afford it, Porsche will offer two versions of the 911 Turbo Convertible, the regular model with a 3.8-liter flat six producing 513hp (520PS) and the Turbo S with 552hp (560PS) and a selection of upgrades, including full-LED headlights, exclusive interior appointments, Sport Chrono Package Plus package and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). There’s only one transmission available for the Turbo models, a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK.
We’ll see the new 911 Turbo Convertible models arriving in the market next year.
