Oh, Autocar, sometimes it’s better to stick to reviews than report on the news… The online edition of the British magazine posted a story on 3D models of a next generation Seat Ibiza Cupra, which it says, preview the actual model coming next year.
The author of the piece states towards the end of the article: “The Cupra images were found on a filing with the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM), the agency responsible for registering trademarks and designs that are valid in all 28 countries of the EU.”
That’s correct. However, the author fails to mention in the piece that the application with the 3D models of the hot hatch clearly states that the owner of the computer generated images is not the Spanish carmaker, but an individual named “Barrientos Palma, Ruben”. So there you have it; story debunked, case closed.
