The 1970s was a turbulent time for American automakers that were caught with their pants down when the oil crisis erupted, as their entire portfolio was built around the philosophy “bigger is better”. And nothing says big like a classic 1971 Cadillac De Ville converted into a custom made (and named) Fleetwood El Camino pickup truck.

Finished in a gold-tarnished brass hue, the huge Cadillac has 87,718 miles on the odo (141,138 km). The seller states that the conversion from a De Ville to an El Camino-style truck cost over $18,000.

“Running gear is all stock,” reads the ad. “It runs and drives very well. New tires, new air conditioning compressor, and new battery. Even the cruise control works. Actual miles.”

Last time we checked on eBay, where the V8-powered car is listed for sale, the highest bid was $5,300, but the seller’s reserve had not yet been met.
