Chevrolet has chosen the all-important (mainly from a European perspective) 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany this September for the world premiere of the convertible version of its redesigned 2014 Camaro.
The Detroit firm released the first photos of the soft-top Camaro in both European and North American specification trims. You can tell the two versions apart from the exterior mirrors with the American model sporting sleek units and the European iteration, a pair of abnormally large, and dare we say, silly looking, but possibly more practical units.
Joining the convertible model will be the redesigned version of the Camaro Coupe that will be making its European premiere in Frankfurt. In the Old Continent, both models will be offered exclusively with a 6.2-liter V8 delivering 426hp (432PS) when paired to a six-speed manual, which offers a zero to 100km/h (62mph) time of 5.2 seconds for the coupe and 5.4 seconds for the convertible.
Aside from the new front and rear end styling, the 2014 Camaro gains a new color heads-up display and Chevrolet MyLink connected radio with a seven-inch high resolution full-color touch screen and standard navigation, and improved aerodynamics.
Sales of the redesigned Camaros will begin towards the end of the year across Europe, with prices starting from €39,990 (equal to US$53,500 at today’s rates) for the coupe and €44,990 (US$60,300) for the convertible in Germany.
