Diesel powerplants are the way to go in Europe when it comes to mainstay models for the masses. If they’re available in smaller displacements, even better. After launching its new 1.6-liter i-DTEC on the Civic hatchback in the beginning of the year, Honda UK has now confirmed availability and pricing for the diesel unit on its latest generation CR-V.

Scheduled to arrive in Honda’s UK dealerships this October, the CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC starts at £22,800 OTR for the entry level S, £24,660 OTR for the SE and £26,880 OTR for the 1.6 i-DTEC range topping SR trim.

Offered exclusively with front-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual gearbox on the CR-V, the 1.6-liter oil-burner produces a maximum output of 118HP (120PS) at 4,000 rpm and 300Nm (221.3 lb-ft) at 2,000 rpm.

According to Honda, fuel economy on the combined cycle is 62.8mpg UK (52.9mpg US or 4.5 l/100km) offering the potential to cover up to 800 miles (~1,290 km) on one full tank of diesel, while CO2 emissions are 119g/km, meaning that in Britain, the CR-V 1.6 i-DTEC is eligible for £0 road tax for the first year and as low as £30 annual road tax from then on.
