If you want to buy a very cool and desirable American classic in as pristine and unmolested a condition as possible, and have around a quarter of a million dollars lying around, then you’re in luck, because there’s no better way to rid yourself of the excess cash than by splashing it out on the last ever 1970 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Fastback; it’s going under the hammer at the midpoint of August (16-17), according to RM Auctions.
With only 27,000 miles (43,200 km) on the odometer, “this Shelby GT350 is possibly one of the most well-documented, unique, and unmolested 1970 GT350s offered for sale,” according to the auction house which also notes that it was the last ever of the series to be produced.
It has tons of paperwork to document literally every second of its existence, and its originality seems to be the key selling point here.
It is explained that the car has had just three owners to date, all of which have cared for it, and the fact that it has spent most of its life in sunny Florida is meant to build confidence that there is no hidden rust.
However, that probably won’t be a problem, as the car was given the once-over by renowned Mustang expert Ed Meyer, who in 2006 was tasked with a light restoration job which reportedly made him declare it as being “the finest GT350 he’d ever seen.”
