A group of engineers from China, Taiwan and New Zealand have designed an electric car that seems to solve some people’s worst fear when behind the wheel: parallel parking.
The prototype vehicle has four separate electrically powered wheels that make parallel parking and U-turns a real walk in the park.
Each wheel can steer independently so that the car can U-turn virtually on the spot, at the touch of a button. This particular feature would surely be appreciated in crowded cities, as would the parallel parking feature, which is also completely automatic. We’re pretty sure some people would kill to have a car like this.
The baby blue-colored mini doesn’t have a name, but it looks like the engineers used a Daewoo Matiz as a basis for the prototype. According to Reuters, the minds behind the mini say the vehicle can reach a top speed of 100 km/h (62 mph) and could be sold in two years’ time for around $8,000 (€6,040).
