The Chrysler Group is paying homage to the Rumble Bee Ram pickup truck on its tenth anniversary with a new concept study at the annual Woodward Dream Cruise that takes place today in Detroit.

Just like the original production model, the Ram study is inspired by the Super Bee muscle car of the late 1960s – early 1970s with a flashy two-tone yellow and black color theme inside and out.

Based on a 2013 Ram 1500 R/T, the two-wheel drive model sports a bespoke “Drone Yellow” matte finish swathed in gloss black highlights and stripes, with other touches including the Mopar ground effects kit and 24-inch wheels.

Inside, Ram’s designers opted for black and Drone Yellow leather sport mesh seats with two-tone yellow/light-grey stitching, adding “Rumble Bee” lettering and Ram logos on the seats, floor mats and door bolsters.

No doubt, the weirdest – some will say creepiest – addition is an actual amber-encased bee fixed into the 8-speed rotary shifter knob that lights up to expose a honeycomb pattern background.

For its motivation, the Rumble Bee makes use of the Chrysler Group’s tried and trusted a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 producing 395 horsepower and 407 lb.-ft. of torque, coupled to a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission driving the rear axle. An adjustable Mopar cat-back dual-exhaust system and a 2-inch drop provided by King Suspension complete the concept’s list of features.

Whether Ram will produce a limited edition version of the Ramble Bee study remains to be seen.
