Admittedly, even those of us who research and drive cars for a living can sometimes confuse one Audi model for another, but on the other hand, you can spot an Audi on the road from the brand’s signature styling cues (okay, some Skoda, Seat and VW owners may disagree with the above statement…).
What we’re trying to say is that, while there’s no doubt that the vehicle captured by a follower of our spy associates at CarPix is indeed an Audi, there’s a question of which SUV model it is. Our spies say it’s the new Q7, and judging by the width of the vehicle compared to the road and the license plate, we’ll agree.
The blurry pictures don’t allow us to see all the details of the camouflaged prototype, but it looks like Audi designers have afforded the SUV with much sharper lines all around, which is a welcome change if you’re not a fan of Ingolstadt’s plumper looking Q7.
We hear that under the skin, the new Q7 will ride on the VW Group’s new and much lighter MLB platform, which along with the more exotic materials used throughout, will help to shave as much as 360 kg (800 pounds) over the current model, improving performance, handling and fuel economy, not to mention CO2 emissions as well.
The new generation of the Q7 is expected in 2015.
