If there’s one feature that has remained consistent on Lexus’ F-branded high-performance models (not to be confused with the F-Sport trim variants), are the signature stacked tailpipes on both sides of the rear bumper.
Add to that a group of Lexus employees who were enraged with our spy photographers for catching a few shots of a completely undisguised Lexus GS with the aforementioned feature, and you will understand why we believe that the car parked in one of the brand’s garages is a prototype for the GS F.
What else can we see in these photos? The rear boot spoiler looks slightly bigger and different than the one fitted on the regular GS F-Sport, as does the rear apron and diffuser combo, while the alloy wheels are similar in design to those found on another “F” prototype, the RC F Coupe.
If this is indeed Lexus’ answer to the BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG, then we should expect the production model to come with more bespoke styling cues such as differentiated front bumper and grille, along with a heavily re-worked chassis.
The million-dollar question is what would Lexus place under the hood of the GS F, which in regular trim, is offered exclusively with six-cylinder engines; could it use the same naturally aspirated V8 engine as the one rumored for the RC F Coupe or perhaps an improved variant fitted with turbochargers, or how about the LFA’s V10 unit? Even if the latter is a farfetched idea, it would certainly give some character to the GS, wouldn’t you agree?
