Oh, Meghan Rutledge, haven’t you learned not to celebrate a win before you, um, actually win?
Joining the likes of Riccardo Russo who started his slow victory run at the 2012 Italian CV Championship race at the Mugello…one lap before the end, 17-year-old Australian Women’s National Motocross champion Meghan Rutledge lifted her fist in the air during her last jump at the Women’s Moto-X race in Los Angeles this past weekend.
Her fist-pump move was premature (and perhaps…immature) and it cost her a gold medal win, as she lost her balance and crash-landed one turn before the finish!
In the video, we hear the commentators saying “I can’t believe it” and “From the pinnacle of joy to the depths of defeat”. Watch the unhappy ending for Rutledge in the video below the break.
