We’ve seen this scene play out often on the silver screen – you know, a shop’s lucky millionth (or a rounded out multiple / fraction of that number) customer who wins a big prize, only this time, it happened for real when Toyota sold its 50 millionth car in the United States.

The lucky man was NYPD veteran Michael Dee who bought a Camry earlier this year from Millennium Toyota in Hempstead, NY. A few months later, Toyota executive Bill Fay paid him a visit with a cameraman on hand filming the (purportedly) surprise meet at Dee’s house where he was having a barbeque event for his friends.

To make a long story short, Fay told Dee that Toyota paid off his loan on the Camry and presented him with a brand new 2013 RAV4.

“I don’t know what say!” he stated.  “This is phenomenal.  I can’t explain how much this means to my family and how grateful we are to Toyota!  The whole ‘thank you’ thing just doesn’t seem to cut it.  It’s a day I’ll never forget.”
