The Renault Sport Spider is one of those cars you just want to go for a drive in, promising good handling but not much power, only boasting 148 hp – it’s meant for fun, not speed.
Made from aluminum underneath, with lots of plastic covering it all up, it never really lived up to its looks, and as Tiff Needell says in the old Top Gear video excerpt we found and posted below, it was too soft, not really that light and basically not all it could have been…
Still, as a unique buy to thrill both yourself and your friends, especially in the US where it’s very unlikely to be known, it’s perhaps not a bad way to go. It doesn’t rust, the engine is not revolutionary in any way and it should prove reliable – it’s not really what you’d call complicated.
If it still sounds good, then the asking price for this yellow example that popped up for sale on Craigslist, in Miami, Florida will make it seem less so – it’s $30,000.
The sale page contains absolutely no information other than the car’s location and its price, but at least eight clear photos are provided too. Check it out after the jump!
