We haven’t officially confirmed this yet, but the following photos of the Porsche 918 Spyder are said (and look) to be the first of the final production model due to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show on Tuesday.
Now, if you can spot differences between the pre-production cars and the market launch model, then you’ve likely been spending too much time pouring your eyes over photos of the 918 Spyder this past year…
We already know plenty of details about the 918 Spyder, including it’s U.S. MSRP of $845,000 for the base model seen here and $929,000 for the more track focused 918 Spyder with the Weissach Package, which gains an assortment of aero upgrades and loses comfort features such as the air conditioning and audio systems, armrest and door storage to reduce weight by 34 kg (77 pounds).
The brand’s first ever plug-in hybrid super sports car receives its mojo from a mid-mounted 4.6-liter V8 engine producing 600hp (608PS) linked to a pair of electric motors rated for 115 kW (156PS / 154hp) and 95 kW (129PS / 127hp), together delivering a system output of 875hp (887PS), for a 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint time of just 2.8 seconds.
The best part? When making use of the batteries that provide a pure-electric driving range of over 30km (~19 miles), the 918 Spyder can return a fuel economy of up to 78.4mpg US (94.1 mpg UK or 3.0 liters per 100km).
