We went into great detail regarding the Caterham Seven R620, its specs and its performance. However, we wondered how all those numbers translated onto the road, and whether or not the car would be too much too handle with its high power output of 311 hp and its 500-ish kg (1,100-ish lbs) weight figure.
I mean, clearly 80 hp is also enough to move a Seven around and still make it fun, like the new downsized and turbocharged model that the manufacturer will be showing off at the Frankfurt motor show. That will be the most inexpensive variant of them all but it will probably live up to the promise and be a very fun drive.
Still, the most powerful version, the R620, clearly makes for a better, more spectacular video review topic, and Autocar’s Steve Sutcliffe is among the first to give it a go.
The video is posted after the jump, and it really makes you think about this whole power to weight ratio thing, and just how much more of it the Seven’s chassis could take without beginning to feel strained, and still work as a road car too.
