The BMW 4-Series Coupe is not only about powerful gasoline engines and M Performance packages. The base 420d SE model is the one that most people will buy (in Europe, of course), as the diesel 4-Series is expected to make up a large portion of the sales. So how does the 420d present itself? Auto Express magazine took it for a long test drive, covering 800 miles (1,287 km) across Great Britain to find out.
We’ve already seen from previous reviews that the 4-Series is a competent coupe with good handling and dynamics, but this review also presents the practical side of the 3-Series-based coupe. The 445 liters of boot volume proved to be just enough for a very long ride, with the car also gaining a positive feedback for its relaxed and comfortable motorway cruising.
Of course, there were some things that could have been better, such as the amount of noise that reaches the cabin at higher speeds, especially on rougher roads.
