We’re not sure why any top Mercedes-Benz model would need an engine transplant from another carmaker even if said powerplant is the almighty 5,562 cc (5.6-liter) naturally aspirated V8 from the Nissan GT-R Nismo GT1 racecar, but designers have their own way of thinking and this is how Mark Hostler envisioned his latest project, the Mercedes-Benz SL GTR Concept.
Hostler, a transportation design student at Staffordshire University in England, whose name might ring a bell to those of you who remember the outlandish Lamborghini Ferruccio concept, says the SL GTR “represents the latest innovation in a long line of world beating Mercedes-Benz sports racing cars homologated for road use”.
The mid-engines model was imagined to use all the latest tech features and materials such as a carbon-fiber passenger cell and magnesium wheels, all in the name of performance.
