The Ferrari 458 Speciale is still so new that hardly any footage of it in action can be found on the web. It’s the more powerful and hardcore version of the Italia, which uses the same engine but boosted in power, while a host of other upgrades and improvements promise to make it noticeably faster than the regular model.
However, we were wondering if the Italian manufacturer also altered the exhaust and intake systems, thus enhancing the savage bark that the 4.5-liter V8 motor already has. We can’t really tell if that’s the case, and Ferrari does not mention it directly, but now we have videos to compare and analyze, thankfully one of which is of the new Speciale, being thrashed around the Fiorano.
To my ears, the video posted after the jump, courtesy of Marchettino, makes the Speciale sound a bit like the Challenge race car, with more depth to the engine note, whereas the regular 458 just screams at the highest of rpms. Make no mistake; the latest hardcore model does the screaming part just as well, but with a bit more supporting bass to go along. Check it out and leave your comment below.
