After the sneak preview of the Fourjoy study Smart gave us earlier today, the first official photos of the sub-compact concept have already surfaced online. The Russian website AutoWP published a set of images showing the doorless concept.
While it may look like a golf cart to many, this study previews a future production model, as Smart said in the email they posted earlier today: “#Sneakpeek: take a first look at the design sketch of the upcoming smart fourjoy, forerunner of a new smart generation. Stay tuned for more!”
As the name suggests, the production model previewed by this concept may be the successor to the Smart ForFour, the supermini built between 2004 and 2006 by Mitsubishi at its NedCar plant in the Netherlands, since the ForFour was based on the Mitsubishi Colt platform.
Naturally, the showcar bits – such as the futuristic interior – won’t make it to the production model, but the front and rear ends are likely to be carried over to the next-generation ForFour, albeit with light modifications. There are no official details yet, so we’ll just have to wait for Smart to issue the press release. The Smart Fourjoy Concept will have its world premiere next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
