If Mercedes-Benz can pull it off with the classic G-Wagen for more than three decades now, then why can’t Land Rover do the same with its Defender 4×4 marketing it as a premium offering with a price tag to match?
We’re sure many of you can answer that question in a lot of different ways (agreeing or disagreeing), and while Land Rover itself has opted to start from a clean sheet of paper for the Defender’s replacement, German tuning firm Startech is proposing a luxury upgrade for the current three-door 90 model, which it will present in a world premiere at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA).
The Brabus-owned tuner has yet to release detailed specs on its new Land Rover Defender Series 3.1, but the moniker and the pictures tell a tale similar to that of Startech’s Defender 110 Series 3.1 Concept from last year’s Essen Motor Show in Germany.
Like its more spacious five-door sibling, the Startech Defender 90 Series 3.1 adopts a retro-modern look with a new fascia sporting LED headlamps, a redesign grille, aluminum accents, and a completely revamped interior slathered in high-quality leather, Alcantara, wooden floors and premium trims.
We gather it won’t be long before Startech comes out with a release on its Defender study (?), so stay tuned for the full details.
