The rumored debut of a concept previewing the Gallardo’s replacement turned out to be just that; a rumor. Instead, what Lamborghini had to offer to Gallardo fans was another limited edition version, this one named the LP 570-4 Squadra Corse. And before you build your hopes up on getting one, let us tell you that it will cost €191,100 (equal to about 254,000 McDonald cheeseburgers in the U.S.), and that’s before taxes.
Borrowing its name from Lamborghini’s recently-founded motorsports department Squadra Corse, which manages all activities from GT3 to the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championships, the limited run Gallardo makes use of many go-fast and lightweight goodies from its racecar namesake.
It tips the scale at 1,340kg (2,954lbs) or 70kg (154lbs) less than the Gallardo LP 560-4, and with its 562hp (570PS) V10 engine it can fly to 100km/h (62mph) from standstill in just 3.4 seconds, and to 200km/h (124mph) in 10.4 seconds. Top speed is pegged at 320km/h (199mph).
The special edition Gallardo made its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
