Not that it will make you go running to the nearest Mercedes-Benz dealership, but the brand with the star has released pricing for its spanking-new and lower priced 2014 S-Class flagship sedan that starts at $92,900 (* excluding a $925 destination and delivery fee) for the S550, and which represents 2.8 percent or $2,100 savings over the outgoing W221 model.
The S550 comes with a new twin-turbo 4.7-liter V8 that produces 20hp more at 455-horsepower and peak torque of 516 lb-ft, along with a host of additional standard equipment features over the older model, including rearview camera, Panorama Sunroof, all-LED lighting inside and out, Keyless Start, and MAGIC VISION CONTROL.
An all-wheel drive version will be added in November with an MSRP of $95,900, again, excluding deliver charges.
Sitting at the top of the range (until the arrival of the V12-powered S65 AMG), is the new S63 AMG sporting a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine kicking out 577hp (585PS) and 900 Nm (663 lb-ft), and standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
The new S63 AMG is priced at $139,500 (*), which Mercedes says represents a 4.5 percent value improvement over the 2013 S63 AMG that was priced at $140,000, if you take into consideration that the latter came without all-wheel drive and with 536hp as standard (563hp was offered with the optionally available performance package).
