Chevrolet is expanding its 2014 Silverado lineup with a new edition named High Country made for buyers looking for a more premium iteration of the full-size pickup truck model with finer materials, snazzier exterior and interior trims and enhanced specification.
On sale this fall with a starting price of $45,100 including destination charge for 2WD models equipped with the standard 355hp and 383 lb.-ft. (519 Nm) 5.3-liter V8 engine that offers a 9,800-pound (4,445 kg) trailering rating and a maximum payload of 1,957 pounds (888 kg), the High County will also be available with an optional 6.2-liter V8 delivering 420hp and 460 lb.-ft. of torque.
In both cases, the V8’s are linked to a standard 6sp automatic featuring an auto grade braking function that downshifts the transmission on downgrades to reduce brake wear.
The crew cab body is limited to the High Country, and is available with a 5’8” or 6’6” cargo box. Other unique content on the outside includes a full chrome front grille, specific 20-inch chrome wheels with P275/55R20 all-season tires and body colored bumpers, while chrome body side moldings, door handles and mirrors, and halogen projector headlamps come as standard.
In the interior, the High Country sports exclusive saddle brown leather covering the seats, and parts of the door panels, lower center console and dashboard. It also gains front bucket seats with High Country logos on the headrest, Chevrolet MyLink connectivity with an 8-inch touch screen, Bose premium audio and front and rear park assist.
“There’s a Western flair to the High Country’s cabin that reflects the truck’s polished yet rugged stature,” said Maria Rohrer, Silverado marketing director. “It’s a passenger environment that’s equally adept when working a ranch during the day and stepping out for the evening.”
On the options list, you’ll find a sunroof, navigation system and a rear-seat entertainment system with a BluRay/DVD player, along with a High Country Premium Package featuring heated steering wheel, driver alert package, adjustable pedals and integrated trailer brake controller.
