For the next three months or so, until the end of 2013, Nissan will be the first and only automotive company to offer Apple’s iTunes Radio after the Japanese carmaker signed an exclusive deal with the Cupertino-based tech giant.
As one would expect, there’s no mention on what will happen after the end of the year, but since Nissan does point out that it will be an “exclusive automotive partner through 2013”, we imagine other automakers will join the list in 2014.
“We see iTunes Radio as an integral part of our new vehicle launches and ‘big moments,’ riding the wave of interest and usage of this exciting new service to maximize exposure of Nissan’s new models,” commented Jon Brancheau, vice president, Marketing, Nissan North America.
The first Nissan cars to be offered with Apple’s iTunes Radio will be the upcoming 2014 Rogue compact SUV, the 2014 Versa Note and the Leaf electric vehicle.
Nissan said it will offer unique content across Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and PC.
“We’re also adding iAd on iTunes Radio as a critical platform in support of ongoing campaigns, such as our college football and Heisman Trophy Tour initiative,” said Brancheau. “It’s a great way for Nissan to reach the right audiences in the right markets.”
