While one group of Opel designers were working on a new pair of real-life special edition versions of the Adam mini inspired by Apple’s iPhone, another group came out with the first 3D printed model of the car, which you can see in the video that follows below.
Back to reality, the new Adam models are called the Black Link and White Link, and they’ll both be making their international premieres at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week.
According to Tina Müller, Opel Vice President and Chief Marketing Office, “The ADAM Black Link and ADAM White Link models are like a sophisticated smartphone on wheels,” which is a reference to the IntelliLink infotainment system and Siri Eyes Free voice control (which works with an iOS 6 or later compatible iPhones) that come fitted as standard.
The “smartphone” reference continues with the available colors as the two variants reflect typical smartphone looks in black or white, with accents in brushed aluminum inside and out. Naturally, the Adam comes with a special iPhone dock that automatically re-charges the device it’s holding so the battery doesn’t deplete when in use.
The Opel IntelliLink infotainment system includes a 7-inch color touchscreen as well as the Tune-in app for global radio reception, the navigation app BringGo and Stitcher, an app for receiving internet radio podcasts from around the world. And just so other users don’t feel left out, the system is compatible with Android software-operated devices.
Other unique features of the two special edition models include tinted rear windows, 18-inch wheels, black or white lacquered standard roof spoiler, headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED tail lamps and special upholstery that matches the exterior theme on each model.
The new Adam Black Link and White Link will be available for order later this fall.
