In the past 24 hours, we’ve brought you leaked as well as official pictures and information on the new Citroen Cactus Concept that’s heading to Germany and the Frankfurt Motor Show for its first public outing. Now, you can add spy shots of the actual production model that will become the C4 Cactus when it goes on sale in Europe in the first half of 2014.
The C4 Cactus’ styling is very close to the concept with Citroen getting rid of the floating roof and cuddly rubber surfaces on doors and bumpers, while adding a number of elements you’d expect on a production car of this category like door handles, window surrounds, and in general, parts that make it practical for everyday use.
Expected to ride on PSA Peugeot-Citroen’s new EMP2 platform that also underpins the new C4 Picasso minivan, the Cactus will be a soft-roader that will go up against compact crossovers, while also targeting hatchback buyers from the traditional C-segment.
Understandably, our spies could not take out a…tape and measure the prototype’s dimensions, but for what it’s worth, the Cactus Concept is 4,210mm long, 1,750mm wide and 1,530mm tall.
It’s safe to assume that the engine range will mirror that of the C4 hatchback and C4 Picasso MPV with a choice of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines.
Look for a world premiere of the C4 Cactus at next year’s Geneva Salon.
