Is Lexus plotting a BMW M5 and Mercedes E63 AMG-fighting F version of the new GS Series, is the question we asked early last month when our spies caught a quick glimpse of a tester featuring the sport sub-brands’ signature stacked tailpipes. We think so and these fresh photos from the Nürburgring of the same prototype provide further proof that Lexus has a hot performance under its sleeves.
Beyond the slightly modified rear end of the car with the diffuser and boot lid spoiler that we’ve already seen, as previously mentioned, in these new pictures we notice an additional rear side skirt piece and a front lip spoiler.
It’s obvious that the tester is based on the GS F Sport with extra spoilers, a slightly bigger air vent under the grille, different wheels wrapped in low-profile tires, and the stacked tailpipes marking the biggest differences over the plain model, so there’s a strong possibility that the production car will come with more aggressive styling pieces and details.
Our spies tell us they also noticed that the GS F test car was fitted with the same steering wheel as the RC F (based on the IS sedan) coupe that was also recently sighted on the Nürburgring.
It is rumored that the two models will come equipped with, if not the same, related versions of a new V8 powertrain.
