The style of driving varies from country to country, according to specific national traits, road types and conditions, as well as the strictness with which driver’s licenses are obtained – in Germany, for instance, getting a driver’s license is harder than in other countries, but this shows once you go for a drive there.

The exact opposite is (sadly) true for Russia, and while it has its share of good motorists trying to promote safe, responsible driving by their own powers, they are overwhelmed by the sheer number of loony people out and about. Most crashes in the country are caused by drivers taking unnecessary risks. I mean would you see an event like the one shown in the video below take place on an autobahn? I don’t think so.

Explanations are futile when it comes to these Russian videos, because we always end up droning on about the same issues. However, we will say that with a bit of ‘overtaking etiquette,’ there would be a lot fewer accidents in Russia, and fewer people would drive their Citroen C5s off the road while trying to be the second car that overtakes a semi-truck on the wrong side, at speed, and on the freeway.
