You may remember Jaguar’s Project 7 concept car, essentially a single-seater version of the F-Type convertible. Unveiled at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Project 7 pays homage to Jaguar’s D-type racer produced from 1954 to 1957 that won the Le Mans 24-hour race three times in 1955, 1956 and 1957. The name is also a tribute to Jaguar’s 7 victories at the famous endurance race. c

But how did the team behind Project 7 manage to combine Jaguar’s racing DNA and styling cues with the modern platform of the Jaguar F-Type? That’s a question that Ian Callum, Jaguar’s design boss, answers to in a new official video. He reveals that very few people worked on the project and that it was a work done with a lot of enthusiasm, resulting in a very special car.

Many modifications had to be done to the F-Type to turn it into Project 7, but the result is indeed a joy to look at. And with 542 hp from the 5.0-liter V8, it really has the performance to match its looks.
