Imagine your father has a wonderful collection of vintage cars and he invites you to choose one as your daily driver when you turn 18. Which one would you take? A Porsche 911? An Alfa Romeo Spider? Or maybe a more mundane VW Beetle? Well, for the girl who was in this lucky position, the answer was rather different, as she chose a 1959 Bianchina.
Why, you ask? Because it’s small, colorful and makes a powerful impression on the street. Launched in 1957, the Bianchina was Autobianchi’s first automobile and was seen as an upscale compact car. Based on the Fiat 500, it was available in five different versions: Berlina (saloon), Cabriolet (roadster), Trasformabile (convertible), Panoramica (wagon) and Furgoncino (van).
The car from the video is a Trasformabile, featuring a soft top similar to the one on the modern day Fiat 500C.
You can find out more about how it is to drive a car that can only do 50 km/h (31 mph) in the following video by Petrolicious.
