A few days ago, we came across a report from Germany about Mercedes’ intention of launching a special final edition of its SLS AMG series, one that would mark a planned end of production that is expected to come around the midpoint of 2014.
Now it has been revealed alongside the S65 AMG saloon, and it’s set to debut simultaneously at the Los Angeles and Tokyo motor shows, both of which run from next week to the beginning of Decemner.
The S65 has already been discussed in detail, so it’s the last of the SLS breed that has our interest here.
Naturally, it will get special cosmetic touches to mark it out as a unique model, the most noticeable of which is the two tone paint finish that has its (very long) bonnet painted black, along with the rear spoiler, but as far as we know, that’s about all – no mechanical or performance upgrades to speak of here.
A total number of 350 will be made, in any of the available body styles or levels of performance/trims, all featuring the same 6.2-liter V8 putting out 583 hp (591 PS) from the GT.
Bring out its smaller and cheaper successor!
