This 1968 Fiat Dino Coupe is selling for $18,000 – its owner is moving out of California, and will not be able to look after it any more.
The exterior looks in top condition, but the engine reportedly needs a refurb, and the interior, while looking very clean seems to still be missing some bits like the door panes; wires under the steering column are also apparently clipped for no reason.
But still…as much as we all like the modern cars that come out, with their active aerodynamics, increasingly widespread use of carbon fiber and heavy reliance on intrusive safety-promoting electronics, there’s always something special about classics that makes us completely forget all of the above.
We just concentrate on sleek lines that cannot be replicated today, raspy imperfect engine notes that also cannot be reproduced and the feeling that whoever worked on that car back in the day did so passionately, with the aim of earning his or her daily bread by making you happy.
That’s part of what you’re buying into with a sporty (and especially Italian) car from the period, and this 2.0-liter Ferrari V6-engined Dino with a five-speed gearbox does deserve your attention, if for the engine note alone.
However, the owner does warn that it will still take some money before it’s fully fixed up; if you’d like the car without the spare parts that he’s offering (detailed in the Craigslist ad), the price is $16,500.
