Mercedes-Benz might have had the right idea with the introduction of a smaller SUV than the ML-Class when it introduced the GLK back in 2008, but the execution lacked imagination.
It’s too square for its own good on the outside, and outdated on the inside, and the 2012 facelift, marketed as a 2013MY in North America, didn’t really help to change that perception.
Mercedes hopes to fix these shortcomings with the presentation of the second-generation model that will shed its boxy exterior looks while also obtaining a far more modern, roomier and better quality interior borrowed directly from the next C-Class series (see it here in our scoop shots), with which it also shares its underpinnings and engine range.
