No, we haven’t turned back the clock to the spring of 2012 when Mercedes-Benz was still testing partially camouflaged prototypes before the summer release of the new CLS Shooting Brake.

What’s pictured here is a CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake tester sporting some of the changes that the Germans are preparing for the entire range, including the sedan model of the second generation CLS that was launched in early 2011.

Sources from Germany suggest that the CLS will soon gain newer LED headlamp units along with some subtle styling revisions to the front grille, both bumpers and exterior trim, plus new design elements and updated tech features in the cockpit.

It’s not full-blown facelift, but more of a model year update for all CLS body styles and AMG editions, which should be announced within the next 12 months.
