It’s the comparison test we’ve all been waiting for, ever since Alfa Romeo unveiled its 4C sports car – how good is it compared to the segment’s benchmark, the Porsche Cayman?
You’ll be quick to point out that this isn’t the first head to head review of the two sports cars, as a few days ago we featured another comparison test with the two mid-engined coupes. However, that one also included the Toyota GT-86 – so technically we can say this new one from Auto Express is a more focused test.
Furthermore, the tarmac was almost dry in this latest review, so we can get a clearer idea of the two cars’ abilities. We won’t spoil it for you, but it’s important to mention that the tested Cayman was a base model powered by the flat-six cylinder 2.7-liter engine producing 271hp (275PS). The Alfa, as you know, comes in only one flavor: a 1.75-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 236hp (240PS).
It may look easy for the Porsche at a first glance, but add the fact that the 4C is around 400 kg (882 lbs) lighter and things really start to get interesting.
