Revealed some two years ago, the new Ford Mondeo (badged as the Fusion in North America) is a car that should have been on sale in Europe by now, built where it was supposed to, in Genk, Belgium.
However, now that the traditional home of large Euro Fords is being closed down and production moved to Spain, it’s taken them some time to adjust to the changes.
This translated into delays after delays, but according to AutoExpress, we will finally get to see the new car in showrooms on the Old Continent (and British Isles) towards the end of 2014. Their information comes from the Blue Oval’s UK boss, Mark Ovenden who placed its launch “in the final quarter of the year.”
Highly-anticipated as it is, the car will become a common sight, but the planned Vignale luxury model won’t. We don’t have information on it being released at the same time as the regular one, but it is definitely coming and uncomfortably taking the fight to the established premium makers. Sedan, hatchback and estate models will be on offer with all-new engines.
