We’ve already established that the upcoming Porsche 911 rival from McLaren was going to be called the P13. The car that’s set to cost the equivalent of around £120,000 (€145,500 or $198,900), will come to the table with between 450 – 500 hp sent to the back through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
However, since it’s the same 3.8-liter V8 unit that’s used in their other cars, more powerful variants will surely be offered.
British magazine Autocar reported that one of McLaren’s highest-ranking execs, Mike Flewitt, made a claim that the P13 would beat its rivals from Porsche and Ferrari in terms of tech, even though that was never the criticism addressed at for instance the 12C when it was put up against its Italian arch nemesis.
So, it really depends on what is inferred through the statement, but at least the systems will have less of a hard job of keeping the P13 going straight (or sideways, depending on necessity) since it will be smaller, lighter and nimbler than its bigger brother.
Design-wise, we would not be shocked to see an interpretation of the P1’s swoopy and aggressive styling in a more petit package that will be available in more than one.
We will know for sure what it looks like if the promise of it being revealed at the Geneva motor show next year holds true.
